The new Hayward DE filter is the result of several years of changes on their plastic tank filter. Beginning with the vent valve, Hayward had only a manual valve that was opened by hand. Then came the automatic vent valve. That was actually a ping pong ball in a unit at the top of the filter. If the filter has been on the air pressure between the water would become old ball and build. Since the water to air out the air moves the ball until it is positionedis water leaking from the bus top. This worked well until the dirt in the place where the ball Sat collected; dirt was present when the ball would have allowed water to exit the top of the filter. Hayward is now back to the manual air relief valves, which is so old.

The old bracket, who had held the top and bottom of the tank filter two screws opposite each other. The clip was great, with force, but if both are removed when the screws were loosewas very difficult to replace the clamp. Part of the problem was not the top of the tank sit-O-rings. Have you solved this problem Hayward has one screw on the clamp and the lid fits over the O-rings. This makes it much easier to replace the filter bracket.

One of the nice features I personally like, is the central pole that holds the different, and support network together as one. Many of the filters have two poles that make it difficult to replace the nets. Witha rod from the center, the task is simple.

I took one of the best ideas for last. Hayward has become easier for many to put my head on the floor. One might ask then? Now, most distributors have an air hose that sticks out about six inches up, as well as the Hayward. The guides of the distribution pipe to sit in a corner, the cleaning of nets, which are mounted on the manifold, the unit tends to tip over.
